For our foreign students
Flow is one of the study associations of the Faculty of Humanities at Tilburg University. The association organizes both formal and informal activities for students who study Communication & Information sciences (CIW).
Flow was founded in December 2002, with the purpose of making your college days easier and more enjoyable. This means we don’t just organize study related activities like symposia and company visits, but also many informal activities. For example think of the theme parties throughout the year, and the monthly Flow-party at the local bar Van Horen Zeggen. By being a member of Flow, you get to know your fellow students outside of the university, and you will meet people from other college years. Especially for freshmen, Flow has a lot to offer. For example in August, before the start of the semester, Flow organizes an introduction camp for prospective students. During this camp, which lasts one weekend days, you will meet your new fellow students and some seniors, so you will already know some people when the lectures start.
After your first year, Flow keeps organizing fun and instructive activities for you. One of the most popular activities Flow has is the annual study trip. Previous years we went to destinations like Budapest, Krakau, Vienna, Bratislava, Berlin and Istanbul. These trips are a combination of learning and having lots and lots of fun, which makes them a huge success. Flow also arranges excursions; for example, Flow organizes company visits for each major within CIW, so you can accompany Flow to the company which fits in the branch of your interest. During these trips you can learn more about the companies for which you might end up working. Furthermore we organize several study related workshops which might come in handy when for example studying for an exam (think of a workshop time management or fast reading).
Important to acknowledge is that Flow is a study association, not a student’s corps. This means that becoming a member doesn’t give you any obligations; you only participate in the activities you like. It also means there is no initiation. On top of that you can order
your books easily and with a discount through Flow. That means that even though you have to pay annual contribution (€12,50), you still profit from it. Seeing all the benefits, why wouldn’t you join?
Last but not least, Flow also offers the possibility for you to get field experience. Many students are active within a committee to keep the association up and running. They are the ones that come up with and organize the activities. Would you like to lend a hand? Become an active member!
