During this internship, you will actively work with the new rust programming language. You will redesign existing data reading modules written in Python and write them in Rust. This is to further increase the performance of the modules.
The context is mobile telephony: Hendrikx ITC has developed data processing solution 1OPTIC over the past 15 years. It is a modular solution with different modules for reading network data generated by radio equipment vendors such as Ericsson, Huawei, and Nokia. The format of the data is often XML, but there are also data streams in ASN.1 format.
The data in question is generated every 15m by 100-thousands of network elements. This must be read out and stored in a data warehouse.
The original data processing modules were written in Python and have been sufficient in terms of performance to date; however, with the rise of 5G and IoT, it is time for an upgrade of these modules.
Your internship consists of 2 parts:
- Create technical design for data processing module(s). Features such as performance, reliability, and robustness play a major role in this.
- Implementing a data processing module in Rust!
