InFlow Commissioner Interview

1. How would you describe your committee in 3 words and why?

Creative, because each committee member always comes up with super fun content for the articles. As a commissioner, I can of course come up with ideas, but how the members implement them is something else entirely. So far, everyone comes up with things that I had never thought of myself!

Enthusiastic, because we always have many great ideas during each brainstorm, and everyone really builds on each other’s ideas. Even for the release activity we've had, everyone made sure the activities, decoration, and atmosphere were top notch!

Organized, because as a commissioner, I don’t really need to remind them to do their tasks. Other than sometimes checking in to see how it’s going, everyone is always doing their own thing once we find a direction to go in, and they have (so far) finished everything in time!

2. What is it like to be a commissioner of the InFlow?

I find it really fun! How much time you have spent working on things for the committee varies quite a bit, but I am also very lucky that all the committee members do their own tasks well. Sometimes I find scheduling the design difficult, because you spend a lot of time on it. Then once the design is printed and in your hands, it does feel like a baby haha! I also loved hearing everyone's reaction to the design.

3. What is your favorite memory with your committee so far?

Wow, that is a really tough one. There are so many fun things we have done so far! However, I do think the bonding with the Accie, where we went shot bowling, is one of my favorites. Also, the release activity of the Flowzine #33 was really cool.

4. If you could be a Disney princess, which one would you be and why?

I think Mulan, despite her not officially being a real princess. Mulan definitely used to be my favorite Disney “princess” when I was younger, and she's also just badass! I think I am just as stubborn as Mulan, but also driven by things I really care about. Now I hope to be as cool as her someday!

5. How did your work within the InFlow-committee influence your personal growth?

I think the biggest point of growth has really been learning to plan everything better. You have to keep everything in order within the committee as a commissioner, and that requires planning and especially execution. The committee has helped me keep a better overview of that, and designing the Flowzine has really helped me create more discipline for myself as well.

I also learned a lot about InDesign and Photoshop, and especially about setting limits with regard to the design of the Flowzine. You could go on forever with the design, but sometimes it is also just important to be satisfied with what you have done.

6. If you could switch with anyone (think big) for one day, who would you choose?

100% Chappell Roan. It seems so cool to be able to release so much creativity in your work and to have a team around you that wants to make all kinds of things for you. Also, performing in front of an audience that can sing along to all your songs seems like a really good ego boost haha!

7. What are you most looking forward to this year as commissioner?

The release activity for the next Flowzine! The previous activity was already really fun, and I think the next one will be even more fun. Since the release is also in the summer, I hope the weather will allow us to sit outside. Reading the Flowzine in the sunshine, what more could you want?

I am also very curious about who will be the commissioner next year. It's still a long way off, but I am really looking forward to working with them on the pocket edition and teaching them all the ins and outs.
