Interview Stan - Media Commissioner

1. Who are you, and what does your committee do?

I am Stan Marcusse, and I am the commissioner of the Media Committee. As a committee, we make sure that Flow's online presence is all taken care of. We put the activities on the website, manage the social media, and we're the media contact person for the other committees. If they want to organize activities, we'll help to put it out there!

2. What makes you excited to be commissioner of the Media Committee?

I am quite passionate about media and technology in general. I wanted to become an active member at Flow as a first-year member, and I was looking at the committees and the Media Committee seemed the most fitting to me.

So it was kind of like a natural choice almost?

Yes! During my interview, I was asked whether I wanted to be the commissioner as no one was assigned yet, and it kind of just happened, but I am excited!

You also say you are new at Flow. What's it like being a commissioner during your first year at Flow?

You enter this world where everyone kind of knows each other, and you have to get around a bit, but it's been very fun so far! I'm also going on the City Trip, so I am very excited about that. I cannot wait to get to know all about Flow and its members!

3. Some people might already know the Media Committee from previous years. Is there anything the committee is doing differently from last year?

Generally, no. Since I am also new at Flow, and not yet up to speed. So, I am planning for the committee to keep it the way it was going. We will also base our choices on feedback from other committees and the Daily Board, and what we feel ourselves what kind of direction we should go. If there is anything, I heard that in the past, the Media Challenges our committee organizes has been thought of as quite 'girly'. We hope that we can adjust the challenges to change this perception and make sure everyone feels welcome and included.

4. You have only just started, of course, but what is it like to be the commissioner of your committee so far?

I think my committee members are quite experienced, so it is all quite natural so far. The meetings have been very dynamic and smooth. It's very nice, and the whole vibe is very warm.

So it helps there are some old timers in the team?

*Laughs* Yeah. They already know how everything went, so we just "go with the Flow".

5. What are you most passionate or excited about for your committee?

We are now in the process of planning the new Media Challenge, and I am very excited to hopefully turn this into a success. Like I said, I hope we can make some changes there from last year to make it as inclusive as we can, and with a more diverse committee I'm sure we can make something we can be proud of.

6. What movie or show would best describe your committee, and why?

I was thinking of the TV show Parks and Recreation because I think the semi-professional work environment and the pleasant setting really match the committee so far. Besides that, it just feels like a generally nice setting, and our committee is all-female, except for me.

7. If you didn't have to look at time or money, what would you want to organize?

Maybe this is in general just a bit of a passion about grandeur, but I would love to just use posters and billboards all around the city and make it impossible for people to be uninformed of Flow's latest events. Just making a massive guerrilla marketing campaign all about our association, would be amazing!
