Basic Programming is an interesting course for students with no programming experience yet. The study material is accessible and you get a lot of hand-on practice which makes you familiar with some basic programming techniques.
The intensity of the course was divided quite well through the semester. As you get new information every lecture, you get to apply that on your assignment. This way you don’t have to spend a lot of time outside lectures, only if you really want to excel.
The course material was really approachable and you get to work on the new code and techniques right away during lectures.
There is no big challenge for students who are familiar with programming already. There is plenty of room to spend as much time on your assignment as you would like, but you will not learn many new things.
This course was one of my favorites, partly because of the teacher. I don’t have much interest in programming, but in our field it is almost necessary to have some knowledge of it. It is a nice course to learn the basics of programming and you will learn to understand how things work (and that it is very complicated).
The study load was very decent. We had to develop a game that we made during the whole semester. This way, the study load was spread over half a year. If you needed more challenge than the “regular” lectures, that was also possible. The lecturer was always open for extra assignments to improve your programming skills.
The playful way they thought us to program. We had to develop a game, and this way it did not feel like working on an assignment, but more like playing games and developing useful skills.
The exam was on paper, which we found rather unconventional. I would have preferred an exam where we had to apply our knowledge in processing 3, in stead of a way too easy exam on paper.
Suprinsingly, I really enjoyed this subject. I did not expect that this subject would be this fun because beforehand it sounded really boring to me. I learned a lot about programmig in ‘Processing’ and the last assignment was also really fun. There were four other assignments which were also pretty easy to succesfully complete.
The subject really costs some effort. You really have to understand the program and the codes and you had to do some reading and assignments before the lessons. You also really needed to understand the program to finish the assignments and the last assignment, but I think it was worth the effort.
It was really fun to learn how to use a program like this. I learned some skills in basic programming and it was really fun to learn them. The final assignment was to create your own game and this was also a lot of fun, you could play your own game and the ones of other classmates.
It really costs some effort to understand the program and some assignments were pretty difficult so it took some time.
It was a very interesting subject. I have learned a lot about the first steps of programming. I found this a very interesting subject because we mostly were doing exercises during the course. So we had a lot of practical programming experience.
Each week we had to hand in a small assignment for which we could receive a fail or pass. A pass was needed for every assignment to be allowed to take the exam. Furthermore, there was a final assignment for which we had to create a game. This took a lot of time but was fun to do. The exam was very easy because most of the things we had already done in the processing 3.
It was a very fun course. The lectures were interesting and I learned a lot. I was looking forward to this course every week.
Every time you missed one bracket or point your assignment would not show up and it was hard to see where you made a mistake.
