Do you feel like you really know the influencer on your screen? Have you felt sad, happy or proud when your favorite musician won an award? Do you feel like you understand them on a deeper level even though you’ve never talked to them? Then maybe you have found yourself in a parasocial relationship: a one-sided relation fueled by media image and online presence.

If this sounds like you, no worries! This Symposium will give you a look into the effects of parasocial relationships and how they can be used to influence you, the fan. Taking Taylor Swift’s huge fanbase as a case study, we will look at parasocial relationships in detail: how they are created, how they are used by celebrities and how they can go wrong. If this sounds interesting to you, put March 12th in your agenda.

The Symposium will take place in the Blackbox Theather in Esplanade. The doors open at 14:45, and we will start at 15:00. The Symposium will go on until approximately 17:00, after which there will be an optional drink at Grand Café Esplanade. Sign up now!

Registrations will be open until March 11th at 23:59.
